unspeakable visions

consider this a collection of things that I've noticed, smiled at & saved for later.

“As Aldous Huxley, says so beautifully in his book Island, “…Now you can let go, my darling. Let go. Let go of this poor old body. You don’t need it anymore. Let it fall away from you. Leave it lying there like a pile of worn-out clothes… Go on, go on into the Light, into the peace, into the living peace of the Clear Light.”

“I like this generation of young folk. Their food is terrific, and they find even the most insignificant things “awesome.” I admire their adventuresome quality vis-à-vis fixed-gear bike-riding and their non-prudishness in the face of nudity. Yes, their attention to detail on the fronts of locavorism and beard care can verge on the precious, but I’d much rather have a young Abe Lincoln serve me his roof-grown mâche than I would have an F. Scott Fitzgerald vomit all over my straw boater. Today’s twentysomethings are self-respecting, obvi.”

These photos make me feel nostalgic, sad, calm, connected, wistful and… a little bit happy too. I really love them and the idea behind them: as our bodies age, we still remain ourselves.

Another very brave post and brave decision, although I’ll dearly miss the updates on her vegan, high-raw, whole foods, hippy dippy life :)

A brave post. Every time someone publishes with such authenticity and honesty, the world becomes a bit more loving, a bit more comforting and a bit more understanding.

“Own your life. Own every last bit of it. Don’t send your Christmas cards out until you’re good and ready. Wear neon purple tights with a grey dress… why not ? Go heavy on the gold eyeshadow…tis the season. Green nail polish? Go on. Run through the rain… or sleep in and skip exercise class. Fashion your cakes into a roll and slice generous portions for yourself, and skinnier portions for other people. Pretend not to notice what you’re doing. Whatever it is: own it!”
